About Us

Hello beautiful friends! Welcome to our About page!

Thank you so much for visiting this little space, and welcome! I’m Ruth, and I’m so excited to meet you and share with you!  Let’s have a virtual cup of tea together! This blog is where I hope to relieve some of your pain, stress, overwhelm & anxiety with self care tips, funny & sometimes not funny stories, hack hacks and ideas for staying a sexy mom. Also, I really want to help you make money from home!  It’s not easy, but it’s possible. Ultimately, I want to help you with this blog and serve you the best I can. My hands are not recovering from daily massage as they once did, and I’m looking for another avenue to serve people with the gifts I was given.

Family first. Fitness = health. Travel is dessert!

This is the motto we try to live by. If you are like us, you love your family, love to travel, love fitness but your fitness level is “a work in progress” and you are always looking for support to improve said fitness;  🙂  you like to play with your kids when you aren’t exhausted, you help out your community when you can, all the while trying to keep the house in order, marriage together, see a friend here and there and find time to call your Mom. (& Dad) I hear you! Life gets hectic.  We could all use some support. We are exhausted some days, but in love with the precious time with our kids despite the circles under our eyes.

“HELP ME HELP YOU”

This blur in time is the good stuff

Through it all, I’m striving to stay positive, playful, supportive of my kids and in some type of physical shape while the tick tock continues.  10 years will be here before I know it, and I want to enjoy those ticks the best I can.

Allow Myself to Introduce…Myself

Again, I’m Ruth, a wife to John for 18 years, a mother to 2 awesome kids, my daughter, 16 & and my son, 14.  We also have our Golden Doodle, Fred, and our guinea pig, Ginger. I often say “we” referring to my entire family as this blog involves them in many posts, and as a “wishful thinking” that they will participate. Both my kids gave me the evil eye when I tried to bribe them to write a post or 2.  I’ll keep trying, especially in front of their friends, which is the easiest way to get a “yes” just to get me to stop embarrassing them. I’m very weird. Truly.  Weird. Just ask those 2 teens of mine.

Our Embarrassing & Stupid Years

My kids find me embarrassing and stupid. YAY!  If they didn’t, I’m doing something wrong. And, even though I love fashion, I wear 2 things:  sweats and dress sweats. Dress sweats are black sweats, not yoga pants, without a logo, no ankle zipper, and possibly have a little bling. This is great for the embarrass my kids factor.  The sweats/dress sweats gets a good 4 on the scale from 0-10. One reason I live in daily sweats is my Junk In The Trunk. Small waist, large Junk in the Trunk.  Not easy to find comfy pants. That’s why I’m sharing my butt building ideas.  I like my Junk, just want a bit less Trunk Junk. Can you relate??

I Love life

I’m a “glass-is-half-full” kind of person; I see the good in every person and situation.

Smiling is my favorite

After getting a double BA in Psychology & English from the University of New Mexico, I immediately went to massage school and have not looked back. I’ve been a massage therapist for the past 25 years with a thriving massage therapy business that I’m proud of and can’t believe I get paid to do something I STILL love.  10 years ago I became a certified personal trainer to add to my practice and it’s an excellent fit. You can check out my massage business website here. My hubby is my soul mate, my line in the sand, my loudest cheerleader.  He’s funny, kind, supportive, gentle, thoughtful, a good provider, generous, 7 years sober (which could be an entire blog on it’s own), and my favorite thing about John:  He’s an incredible Daddy!!

Marriage Fun

Marriage is very important to us, to me.  That commitment has had it’s challenges, but I’m committed, and learning the real meaning of “commitment” -even when I don’t feel like it-has been by the grace of God, counseling and a wonderfully supportive family and friends network. Learning to communicate better with John, with myself and with all others is a challenge I want to share with other married couples, because the more support you have, the easier it is to learn.

I am committed to having a precious, happy, vulnerable, playful, brutally honest, tender, powerful, luscious, focused, intentional, understanding, compassionate, loving and passionate MARRIAGE!!

My goal is to look deeply at myself and how I act to stop some of these possibilities from becoming reality with John.  It is only myself that I can strive to improve & who I am solely responsible for.  No one else. That’s why we have a fun Marriage Challenge!  Come learn with us how to better Love each other.  We are NOT counselors, nor a Medical Doctor in any way.  We are using our own experiences and opinions only.

Fitness Improves Health

For me, Fitness is the center of my ability to focus and stay present.  Not only do I loose weight and feel better physically, but my mind and spirit feel better as well. When I slack in my fitness, my overall mood is down. For some, fitness comes easily & is a normal part of their lives.  This used to be me.  Fitness was easy to keep up with for years. As time ticks by, it’s harder to stay in shape.  It takes more effort now; I don’t recover from workouts as quickly and I REALLY have to pay attention to what I eat, which I NEVER did before. This sucks. I like chocolate, chai, whipped cream, dessert, pizza, bread and cereal, plus many other yummy but unhealthy carbs that go right to my Junk-In-The-Trunk!! Now that I have been on the other side of the motivation, not able to get going, I want to support those of you who feel like I have: alone, hopeless, or just unable to get your fitness goals started. I’m happy to share my workouts, accountability or anything you think might be helpful.  Contact me here.

Travel is Dessert

We love to travel! Travel is one of the main reasons we work!! The more we work, the more we save for traveling. I’m always on the lookout for ways to save money traveling and to avoid crowds. Please email me with any specific questions you may have and I’ll do my best to help. Now, we are trying other options like:
